It’s been over a decade since KISS last released an album, and it seemed like they had comfortably settled into the nostalgia circuit. But don’t hand Gene Simmons a walking frame just yet, as the band has recorded a new album, titled Sonic Boom. Presumably it’s not named after this guy.
Only Simmons and Paul Stanley remain from the class KISS lineup, but they brought “Modern Day Delilah” from Sonic Boom to Letterman’s show last night (Oct. 6). You know exactly what to expect from KISS at this point in their career, and they deliver it like consummate professionals—it’s just a shame they didn’t play a classic track instead of this hackneyed facsimile of past glories.
