Conan O’Brien introduces Kings of Leon as “one of the biggest bands in the world” on this clip, and the huge sales of recent album Only by the Night suggest he may be right. The band performed “Use Somebody” from the album on Conan’s show last night (Aug. 24).
The band’s gruff, functional rock may not be a big critical favorite, but a recent article on Ticketmaster in the New Yorker suggested the band may ultimately gather a following to rival heavy hitters such as Bruce Springsteen and the Eagles. With 6.5 million copies of Only by the Night sold worldwide, Kings of Leon are fast becoming ubiquitous
6.5 million copies sold? I had no idea they were that big now.
Yeah, and it's thanks to this song--it's been in the top ten for like 3 months I think.
i know i sound like the cliche old fan but i really want them to go back to the more punchy Youth and Young Manhood days
Yeah, they shtink.
Their last two albums are horrendous.. I liked both Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak though, those albums were just fun to listen to...
This song is so alterna-rock, in the worst way.
I think they did an awesome job on Conan. Caleb's voice is almost flawless everytime I hear them. They kick a$$ live, and are coming into thier own. As far as old vs. new goes, everyone has thier opinions. I personally am enjoying watching them find thier way into the music THEY like to play. Keep rockin boys!

theres nothing wrong with a band growing and changing and staying vital to the times... and thats what this band is doing.. its amazing they can keep it together at all with their backstory and upbringing .. being siblings and dealing with pressures of fame touring and producing product .. i will tell you we saw them in concert in san diego last friday and the gave til it hurt... going for almost 3 hours straight and sounding better than their cds .. just truly an incredible performance..
