Kings of Leon are becoming a bigger band almost by the week these days. Last week, three tracks of theirs got released to Rock Band, and on Friday they played the Today show in support of Only By the Night, performing "Sex on Fire" (above) "Use Somebody" and "Notion" (below) aka three of their worst songs. On one hand, it's kind of cool that band that started with a tiny audience can play the Today Show, but on the other hand it's infinitely lame that they do so post making an album manufactured solely to appeal to people who watch the Today Show.

Only By the Night is out now.

I kind of agree with you there. I wished they played one of the old songs from "Aha Shake Heartbreak" or something. Kings of Leon's early albums were so raw and amazing, that it pales in comparison to their latest album. I still love "Only By The Night" but I liked when they played music when it was for themselves and the real fans instead of playing music that sells out arenas with fans only knowing one song.

oh boo hoo.... play music for their 'real fans' .. here comes the old sell out argument every time a band establishes a goal works hard and goes for it ... and makes it HAPPEN... the 'real fans' lament their success .. and wish they were just a bar band again starving to death just making music for 'themselves' like back in the good old days ... news flash .. they always had dreams and now they are living them .. caleb talked about that last friday in san diego when he took the stage as the headliner .. about how much it meant to them .. how having a full house let them have another day living the dream and letting them do what they loved... get over it ... they played their hearts out in san diego (almost 3 hours) and im thinking they are doing that everywhere .. they deserve the success they are having and they they are playing for the REAL FANS.... all of us!
