Despite getting pretty thoroughly (and justly) hammered in indie circles, Kings of Leon's Come Around Sundown has sold thousands of copies, essentially becoming 2010's best-selling rock album in short order. I can't imagine the thousands of people who bought the album have much they can defend in "Mary," the new single the band performed on Fallon on Friday night. This is embodiment of every criticism that has been lobbed at the Followills since the jump. And it's the worst.
Know what else is the worst? This skit the band was in. Oh, what a night.
Dear Andrew, what Kings of Leon do is different from the "pop rockstars" of our talentless and lazy generation of musicians who don't know and will never understand good music. I don't care whether or not you like "Mary" (I, in fact, really dig it) or "Come Around Sundown", KOL has hard work ethic not common in our generation. They rock live, and they're humble, cool guys. I love them.
