“Killin’ the Vibe” f. Panda Bear

Panda Bear’s Person Pitch was so good it spawned not just a legion of imitators but a whole genre’s-worth of albums inspired by its collage-like beauty; since the record’s 2007 release, the indie blogosphere has been bombarded by similar concoctions of tropical analogue loops, dubby rhythms, and sunshine psychedelia. Of all the acts seemingly inspired by Panda Bear’s second solo outing, Ducktails (aka Matthew Mondanile of Real Estate) has forged one of the most distinct and continuously pleasant bodies of work.

It’s only fitting, then, that Panda Bear’s next guest vocal spot (you probably haven’t forgotten the pop gems he cut with Atlas Sound and Pantha Du Prince) would be on a Ducktails track. “Killin’ the Vibe” (ft. Panda Bear, as well as Woods’ Jarvis Tavanierre and Dent May) is an alternate take on a track that Mondanile initially recorded alone for his forthcoming Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics.

This friend-aided version will come with vinyl/iTunes versions of Arcade Dynamics.
