"Soundtrack 2 My Life" is maybe the most emo rap track of all time, with Kid Cudi talking about his experiments with drugs, his childhood, his depression, and the issues he has no one can see. The video is basically the opposite though; it's all fun times onstage and on the road, a look behind the scenes as Cudi ascends to fame. "Soundtrack" is one of Cudi's most lucid joints--as opposed to "Pursuit of Happiness," where he's vague about "night terrors" he never explains--so being that the other singles blew up, this one has a pretty good chance of soundtracking your next rush hour drive.
Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon is out now.
I want someone to spit over all these beats, if the instrumentals are out there. I really liked the production on the album but his wah wah wah act bored me.
Yeah, I actually thought about that Pursuit of Happiness beat, and how someone like Ghost would crush that.
Yeahhh, I can totally see that.
Don't hate on Cudi, his sad bastard anthems became very useful to me at various points in the last year. I will say, though, he got laced with a level of production that's disproportionate to his marginal skills as an MC (if indeed what he's doing can be called MCing...).
get high then listen to it basically the whole point, best sh-t ive ever heard.
