As I mentioned in the write-up of Clams Casino's instrumental mixtape, this new project from Lil B-affiliate Keyboard Kid is "basically for those of you who can't stand the rappers [KK] tends to works with." The 15-track collection, Based in the Rain, strips away the bars from guys like the Based God, Soulja Boy, and Squadda B and leaves you with woozy, psychedelic bangers. Keyboard Kid's beats are the equivalent of hallucinogenic boom-bap, where warped samples and airy synthesizers hook-up all night long and spit out beats like "Rolls Royce" and "Based Legend." If this is what people are dubbing "based music" then consider me a fan.
