“Acapella” by Kelis is one of the year’s standout singles, although the drop off in quality on the rest of her Flesh Tone album provided a sharp contrast. “Brave” is another stab at building a Euro-house anthem, but it sounds woefully dated, ultimately sounding like a limp pastiche of the electroclash sound of the early 2000s. Hopefully she’s already eyeing up a different direction for the follow up to Flesh Tone.
