Kelis: "Acapella" (Live on Jools Holland) (Video)

The unwelcome presence of David Guetta on Kelis’s Flesh Tone may cause some fans to balk at laying out cash for the record, but the cheesy house producer actually features on one of the few decent tracks on the album: “Acappella,” which the singer performed on Jools Holland’s show in the U.K. last night (May 11).

Visually, Kelis is relatively dressed down compared to her usual outré live performance antics, but perhaps she just wants to let the music do the talking this time. The house-y rhythms and Donna Summer-esque backing actually sound significantly better than the recorded version of the song, and if Kelis is being repositioned as some kind of disco diva for the 21st century, this song might just do the trick.
