Kelis does pseudo house music now? Okay, I guess. If she wants to sound like C+C Music Factory now, that's her choice. She's an adult, after all. The video for her "4th of July" is total early-90s stuff too: there's a bunch of stuff shot in a desert, a lot of post-Grace Jones outfits, and fire, which as we all know, represents burning carnal desire*. I think the most egregious part of this video is how easily it could be turned into a commercial for Beats Headphones. Those shots even look like a magazine ad.
Kelis' Flesh Tone is due out later this year.
