Keith Urban: "Tumbling Dice" (Rolling Stones Cover) (Live on Fallon) (Video)

Jimmy Fallon's  show is celebrating the re-release of the Rolling Stones’ classic Exile on Main St. this week, and they clearly have a few surprises in store. Green Day may have been an appropriate choice as the first act to cover a song from the record, but Keith Urban makes for an eyebrow-raising follow-up.

“Tumbling Dice” is probably the best-known track from Exile, so Urban is on relatively safe ground, and he sticks very close to the original, ultimately delivering an uninspiring version of the song. What he should have done is recruit the Roots to completely overhaul the track, although a Questlove/Urban collaboration is perhaps too much of a stretch even for the relatively adventurous musical tastes of the Fallon show.

Hell Yeah.....what can I say? When it comes to Keith Urban, "I'm in" .......;-) We are all in!

Were we watching the same show? He killed it more than Jagger ever did, but maybe you aren't of enough age to remember Jagger staggering around the stage. Keith went way out of his box and earned the applause. He even got in a word for the devastation in Nashville - or did you miss that too?

I liked Urban's version, personally. Why change up a perfectly good song?

I thought Urban did an outstanding job. Heck it was 1:30 in the morning in my living room and I was almost rocking out. He can certainly play that guitar too!!

Add me to the list of those who thought Keith Urban's performance was great - and I especially appreciate the shout-out for Nashvillle.

Great stuff from Keith Urban. Beautiful rendition of Tumbling Dice. The band is powerful too - note perfect ... backing singers are excellent. Faultless. Loved it
