Toronto's Kardinal Offishall always offered a musical grab-bag on his records, though these days he definitely aiming more for the dance floor. Some will no doubt blame his signing to Akon's Konvict Muzic label for Offishall's poppier tendencies, but I think it's more the fact he's maturing and just moving away from traditional hip-hop. And on "Body Bounce," an appropriately titled club joint, he's still looking to get hordes of people to shake their asses. But it falls flat, for the most part, especially the corny-as-hell synthesizers and Akon's tired hook. Maybe this will get some decent play in clubs because I just don't see anyone playing it unless they're stuck in a sweaty room packed with drunk people.
You can stream "Body Bounce," which is the first single off Offishall's Mr. International album, at 2DopeBoyz.
