Kanye West: "Street Lights" (Video)

· by

In the year and a half since the release of Kanye West’s excellent 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak, Ye has slowly been moving forward both in his new endeavors – his clothing line, his new album – and with 808s. A little more than a month since the release of the Baywatch-cum-Twilight feel of “Coldest Winter,” Yeezy has released an official video for “Street Lights,” probably the most haunting track from Heartbreak. Directed by Spike Jonze and Jonathan Bensimon, the clip dramatically depicts an intense night in Tokyo, and the sped-up footage and violent cuts reinforce the song's theme of isolation. I have to say I was expecting much more when I saw Spike Jonze directed.

Street Lights is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Your title says "Flashing Lights" though. Confused me for a bit.
