Kanye West hit his worn out caps lock button earlier this week to tweet to us that "'PORTRAIT OF POWER’ PREMIERS THIS THURSDAY," and so it came to be. It’s short—just 90 seconds long—and was directed by Marco Brambilla, who pushes the rapper further into ludicrously grandiose territory. Just check out the slowly assembled group of figures who gradually surround West as the clip progresses.
Hilariously, West himself was somewhere in Korea when the clip debuted. “10 mins till 'THE PORTRAIT OF POWER' on MTV!!! I'm in Korea trying to get a stream,” he tweeted. “It's not a video .. It's a moving Painting!!!,” he continued, apparently at pains to make sure people don’t misinterpret the piece. According to the blurb that comes with it, “Portrait of Power” is a "highly constructed, highly mannered, somewhat religious tableaux that communicates the end of an empire." Which sums it up pretty succinctly.
definitely over the top, but pretty great as well.
"Big Pimpin'" looks so tacky now.
He's tacky, he's weird, he's pretentious, he's an egomaniac. But he is also incredibly talented. And I'll take an annoying genius over a likable poser any day.
Kanye is a true genius yes we dont understand his ways a lil but who understands the mind of a genius? I love this cant wait for the album to drop!!!!!!
Jay Blaze 229 GA stand UP!
