In late December 2010, someone got their hands on a rough cut of Kanye West's torture-laden "Monster" video. They then leaked it to the web, only to have it pulled and never really heard from again. Well, that's not entirely true -- someone did take the time to make an awesome Muppets interpretation of the video.
But now, some six months later, Kanye has approved a final version of the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track's dark visuals. It comes with the note that its content is not meant to be "interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any group of people" and that it is "an art piece and shall be taken as such."
Man, with that kind of warning you would think there would be a lot more gruesome, horrifying imagery. Instead, it's just as disappointing as the rough version, particularly Jay-Z's awkward appearance. But it's not without some highlights. Of course, Nicki Minaj provides the most entertaining portion as she gets all S&M with...herself. It's fitting that she would steal the show in the video, though, as she did the same on the track itself.
