Kanye West: "All Of The Lights (Remix)" F. Lil Wayne, Big Sean, And Drake
"All of the Lights" is a pretty unfuckwithable song, which makes the fact that Yeezy is releasing a "remix" that essentially reduces the complex, carefully arranged My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fatnasy centerpiece to a rap posse cut pretty sad to me. This is the kind of thing where any and all proceeds derived from it should be going to help Japanese earthquake victims, because profitting off of it just seems lazy. Lil Wayne sleeps his way through the opening verse, Big Sean is equally unimpressive, and there's an entire tail end instrumental that is apparently being saved for Jay-Z but is currently kind of pointless. The only real revelation here is Drake, who absolutely murders his verse, showing verbal dexterity and double-timed stylings we haven't seen from him before. According to Karen Civil, the song is unfinished at the moment, so hopefully the extra time will be taken to turn this into something besides an excuse for Kanye to bring his big-name friends into his studio. i thought it was amazing. lil wayne's bit grows on you at first it was a letdown but its good, big seans however.. unimpressive? gotta disagree there i reckon its amazing, and drake, no argument there, just a beast. looking forward to seeing jay-z's part too.
