Kaki King: Pull Me Out Alive (Video)

· by

As you hit play to watch this new video from Kaki King for a song of her album that drops today (March 11), Dreaming of Revenge, you may start wondering why all the motions in the clip are so herky-jerky. Well, it turns out the video really wasn't ever videoed at all. It's made up of more than 5,000 still photographs strung together. The cool lighting effects were created using LEDs, flashlights, and long-exposure photography. All of this was helmed by Edward Boyce and Doug Karr of the production company Chop Wood Carry Water. In the video, King and other New Yorkers traipse through a cold, dark Big Apple evening, with King eventually ending up playing for a small audience in a hip-looking performance space.

They used the same technique as in those Sprint commercials:

I quite like this, actually. Its about time they used the technique for something other than sprint. Plus, its kind of nice to see Kaki venture into the pop thing.
