We got a taste of this project last week when the Sebastien Grainger-assisted "BlackWater" leaked to the web. That track, which is also featured on environmental CD Playlist for the Planet, displayed k-os rapping with hints of anger while Grainger provided some poppy, complementary vocals throughout. It was a natural, albeit surprising, pairing that made for a proper introduction to what's expected to be a genre-bouncing mixtape.
Along with Grainger, k-os is also joined on here by fellow Canadian hip-hopper Drake and a few others. But beyond that, the focus of the 10 tracks on The Anchorman Mixtape is mostly on k-os. It will be available for free online for a limited time, after which each track will be released as a digital single that k-os says is a throwback to the Motown era. The singles will feature bonus material, which will include at least one video for "BlackWater."
