Julianna Barwick: "Never Change"
The wispy ambience of Julianna Barwick’s The Magic Place was one of the highlights of 2011. It’s not clear what her plans are for this year yet—perhaps world domination via extended passages of ghostly vocals? One thing we do know is that Barwick has contributed to Sharon Van Etten’s upcoming Tramp, which is likely to provide one of the early year highlights. Her label, Asthmatic Kitty, has also just put out a new song titled “Never Change,” which doesn’t appear to be attached to any formal release (yet). It’s available to stream and/or download in the clip below, and continues Barwick’s fascination with stretching out her vocal technique in interesting and unusual ways. [via GvsB]
