Julian Plenti: "Games for Days" (MP3)

Apart from a small teaser on his website that showed off a Balkan brass melody, most of what we've heard from Paul Banks's Julian Plenti solo project could have come from an Interpol album. And second single "Games for Days" is no different: it's got a rushing, chiming post-punk riff grounded by Banks's robotic bark. In fact, this sounds like you could drop it into the middle of Antics, and hardly anyone would be able to tell that it doesn't belong. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, and "Fun that We Have" is still better than anything on Our Love to Admire. You could probably say the same for "Games for Days."

Yeah, definitely sounds like something off 'Antics.'

I don't know, Interpol is more satisfying than this. Julian's voice is a little insipid, and this song is four or five years late.
And anyway, why would you want to cop Interpol?

2002 Interpol is beyond reproach in my opinion. And is it really copping Interpol? He's from Interpol.
