Julian Casablancas: "River of Brakelights" (Live on Fallon) (Video)

Julian Casablancas is caught between sessions for the new Strokes album and promotional duties for his solo record, Phrazes for the Young, at present. He appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (March 30), causing Questlove to wax lyrical on Twitter about his drummer’s skills.

It’s too bad the album didn’t live up to the popped-out promise of “11^th Dimension,” and this version of “River of Brakelights” shows why—it’s a perfunctory Strokes-lite rock song, with unpalatable prog rock tendencies thrown in. But that’s not likely to be the focus of this performance, as those tight red pants Casablancas is wearing leave very little to the imagination.
