Julian Casablancas: "River of Brakelights" (Audio)

"River of Brakelights" is the second track to be revealed from Casablancas's upcoming solo album, Phrazes for the Young, and is available streaming at his website. "River of Brakelights" is a rock song in overdrive, propelled by synthesizers that stay in the deeper registers, reminiscent of the Strokes' "Juicebox." Casablancas is still precise, but this song makes it hard to believe he was initially known for the Strokes' minimalist rock songs.

Phrazes for the Young is out Nov. 3 in the U.S. on Cult/RCA.
