Julian Casablancas: "11th Dimension" (Live on Conan) (Video)

Julian Casablancas may be having a few difficulties with the Strokes new album, but that’s not stopping him promoting his forthcoming Phrazes for the Young solo record. “11^th Dimension” is a heavily processed piece of electronic pop that perfectly suits his vocal style, and he performed the song on Conan O’Brien’s show last night (Oct. 27).

This version is slightly more rock oriented than the recorded incarnation of the song, suggesting Casablancas isn’t totally comfortable with being an unabashed pop sensation. It’s a shame, but it doesn’t detract from the fact that “11^th Dimension” is one of the best, and most surprising, moves in that direction in 2009.
