Last night was clearly the point where bands decided they had to dress up on national TV. First, MGMT donned a set of capes and feathers on David Letterman’s show, and then Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi appeared bedecked in a set of rags (which are probably a highly desirable and expensive fashion item) for his performance on the Late Late Show.
“Go Do” is Jonsi demonstrating how well his soaring falsetto fits in a percussion heavy pop framework. It’s certainly a move away from his work with Sigur Ros, but somehow it doesn’t feel like an unnatural fit for Jonsi—and the string arrangements by Nico Muhly help complete the picture.
