John Vanderslice: "Promising Actress" (with the Magik Magik Orchestra)

This is the third and final video in a series with John Vanderslice and the Magik Magik Orchestra, and for this one Vanderslice brings out an older song. "Promising Actress" is from 2004's Cellar Door and takes up the plot of David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, leading to fun lyrics like "Sometimes a cowboy is just a man in a cowboy suit." The appeal of this collaboration is seeing how the fastidiously produced songs can be arranged and played live without any effects, pedals, or even much electricity. The highlight of this version is the choir that replaces the chimes in the original.
