The Runaways is set to open on March 19, and someone came up with the genius idea of having Joan Jett and the Blackhearts do some promo for the picture. Jett and her band did a version of the Runaways’ classic “Cherry Bomb” on Jay Leno’s show last night (March 9), complete with stuttering vocals and that glorious big riff.
The casting of Kristen Stewart as Jett is a shrewd move by the filmmakers judging by her appearance at the Oscars this past weekend—has anyone ever looked less happy to be there? Jett has a brief sit-down with Leno at the end of this performance, which is worth sticking around for, especially when she starts reminiscing about getting started in the business.
I still don't anticipate good things for the movie.
I'm not seeing where the Runaways are enough of a well known musical commodity to warrant all the hype this is getting. It's weird.
Their story is incredible though. Although I'd rather read the Cherie Currie autobiography that the film's based on.
Well, the movie isn't even their story though. It's mostly just about Cherrie Currie and Joan Jett--Lita Ford and the rest of them are hardly involved.
Yeah, I don't think the film will do well at the box office but it would be cool if it did.
