Jessie J: "Price Tag" f. B.o.B And "Mama Knows Best" (Live On SNL) (Video)

Whoever books people over at SNL has a pretty good sense of humor (unlike the writers, am I right? ZING), deciding to book the funniest man on Earth not named Louis C.K. (Zach Galifianakis) along with the British answer to the faux-rapping Ke$ha (Jessie J)*. Jessi J might not be as bad as Ke$ha, but she certainly does try to rap, and it's awful, and the song she did with B.o.B ("Price Tag") is on some Bruno Mars crap-ska, and the second song ("Mama Knows Best") is mostly carried by that goofy outfit. This sort of sounds like an American Idol contestant being allowed to have six minutes instead of two, and then deciding to just shout a lot at the end. This is, at least, a divisive American debut for J, whose debut album is out here on April 12. I bet you'll be grabbing this along with your copy of the new TV on the Radio and Low albums. Right?

*- Did you guys watch SNL this week? It's the first one I've watched in about five years, and it was terrible! Galifiankis' monologue was funny, but all of the sketches were terrible (except the phrase "hella bonin' in your farter"). The digital short was funny, in that it was a one-joke sketch about comedians with one joke. Meta? Probably unintentionally.

I watched the first video and became really uncomfortable.

kesha is awesome. people hate on her but her SNL performance was interesting and weird and she sings great. she's in key. she's in time. people just wanna hate cuz that's sort of the thing to do right now for some reason. you're an idiot if you think that performance (or kesha in general) isn't good.....and frankly you're an idiot for criticizing jessie j's performance too. do you even rap? wtf do you know. morons shouldn't be allowed to blog.

I respectfully (but passionately) disagree!! Although Jessie J certainly can be over the top sometimes, I'll take a bit too much flavor, originality, power, and swag over too little any and EVERY day. I will admit I am biased in her favor, but she brings a lot more to the table in many respects:
-her insane range (youtube is your friend here!)
-her lengthy and successful work as a producer for many famous artists- again, look it up
- her very unique sense of fashion
-her raw but committed approach to music and life, although that's for you to decide (doesn't drink or smoke because of irregular heartbeat, open about sexuality, morals, desire to be a role model, etc)
-Something freaking new and unique, but brought from amazing influences (she has been described as combining the vocal prowess of Beyoncé, the genre-hopping sounds of Gwen Stefani , and the feisty attitude of P!nk)
-She's British. We need more than just American music, as great as it is.

That's pretty damn impressive. And don't bother to compare her to Kesha if you won't even back it up- they both are wild, taboo artists who changed the music game, but are so incredibly different beyond that. Again, you have to read their bios. And you will find hundreds of youtube vids and live performances of every way, shape and form for Jessie J. Not processed, auto-tuned, nothing. There is even a video of her singing in the subway (cheesy, but bear with me) and she puts the radio down and sings to a tape, still flooding the space with energy and performance. I have nothing against Kesha, but she's too different. And wouldn't be able to do a lot of things Jessie J can do, at face value comparisons anyway.

I'm unimpressed with this blogging, you brought no more than a commenter would bring, and that's not worth it if you're going to criticize a beautiful and essential art form like music.
Not disappointed with the complaints, just the opinion-heavy, gossipy blabber I could eavesdrop on if I listened to my dorm mate girls down the hall. No substance or perspective to lay down with such heavy criticism.
And don't bother to compare her and Kesha if you won't back it up with jack (even Kesha has that covered!).

For starters, the blogger isn't a moron. Expressing your opinion and dislike for someone or something doesn't make you a moron.

He has every right to make a blog. Just because you don't agree with him doesn't make him a moron and it doesn't mean he shouldn't write a blog.

He's not an idiot for criticising her performance, he's simply stating his opinion as you are. Infact, you're just as bad because you have just insulted the blogger twice simply because you disagree with his opinion.

As for the blog, I agree with it. Jessie J annoys me, her lyrics are awful, her singing can be OKAY but she isn't anything special. Honestly, what annoys me the most about her songs is the lyrics. They're short, the verses have about 8 lines that any moron can come up with in minutes, and they don't have good flow either.

Personally, "Do It Like A Dude" was worse than Price Tag. It was just a bunch of poor rhymes stuck together. The lyrics were even worse and I had no idea what she was talking about. The song didn't tell any story and I couldn't get what it was about.
