Jay-Z

Wonderwall (Video - Live @ Glastonbury)

Average Rating: 4.25
In the wake of Noel Gallagher's much-publicized comment about Jay-Z not being an appropriate artist for the Glastonbury festival because it's "built on a tradition of guitar music," the rapper delivered a strong response. To open his Glastonbury set on Saturday night, Jay-Z came out with a guitar strapped around his neck, and led the crowd in a singalong of Oasis hit "Wonderwall," before finally launching into his own "99 Problems." Judging from the unreserved manner in which the audience sang along to the tune, it seems highly possible that many of them were unaware of the satirical intent, but there's no doubt that the Britpop bastion in question got the message loud and clear.

Good. I hope they got the message loud and clear. I wouldn't give the Gallagher brothers that much credit, though, unfortunately.

I agree with Ben (above)!! What was he thinking!! He can't even play the guitar!!

He can't even sing . Surely any old drunk can sing along to Oasis?

you guys target rappers due to their use of drum machines and poetry but in the same vein praise the gallagher brothers like angels. most hip hop (outside of this current garbage) learn to play real instruments and are real song writers. no one wants to accept that because you guys are like the muscle car guys vs the import car tuners. hip hop is more diverse than you want to give cred too and the b/s on the radio doesnt represent the ones that work hard @ their craft. jayz HAS A DIVERSE AUDIENCE otherwise he wouldnt be this popular or be able to get a crowd of ppl to sing along with a song so outside of his nature. do you dis local bands that do cover songs on the first night WHEN U KNOW ITS THE FIRST NIGHT!!!! btw if he wanted to he couldve brought the lead singer from coldplay out to help him... they're best friends

FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMET HERE...

Jay-Z tried to take the piss.
The crowd is obviously British.
Oasis are British.
The crowd sings along because they like the song.
Jay-Z is gobsmacked because its all rubbed back in his face and he cuts the music.
Jay-Z is embaressed but still goes on to do his set.
That deserves some respect.
However, like i just said, it did backfire greatly.
Unlucky Jay-Z, maybe next time, eh?

It was a good idea to open the show with Wonderwall for a laugh. I was just shocked at how poorly he sang it. Or was that on purpose?

Rap artists can sing - this just proves it.
