I wonder what it says about hip hop that a standard Jay-Z track that is nothing special, like "Death of Autotune," can seem like some breath of fresh air, cutting out the superfluous Lady Gaga cameo, Ron Browz Auto-Tuned hook, and Soulja Boy dance moves and leaving just Hove dropping bars.
"Death of Autotune" is the first single from Jigga's The Blueprint 3, and it was released to radio last week. At this past weekend's Summer Jam, Jay-Z performed the song to a rapturous crowd, and was joined onstage by T-Pain, who is more or less indicted on "DOA." It makes for an awkward performance, since T-Pain dances like a fool next to Jay as he essentially steals food out of his mouth.
But then again, maybe even T-Pain is sick of Auto-Tune. Or he knows not even Jay can put that bunny back in the box.
