Things began to make a bit more sense following Kanye West's announcement that his collaborative album with Jay-Z, Watch The Throne, would be dropping a week after Yeezy's New Year's Eve show in Las Vegas. In turns out he probably meant that the first leak, "H.A.M.," would be hitting the web in a week or so, not the entire album. It was then revealed that Watch The Throne was actually likely to come out in late March, according to Andrew at Fake Shore Drive -- a site close to West and other Chicago natives.
Jan. 11 Update: The first track from Watch The Throne is finally here and it's, well, just what you might expect if you're familiar with the idea of "going ham," which refers to all-out mayhem. That's pretty much exactly what's going on here as Jay and Ye spit over an epic Lex Luger production. Both rappers incorporate a slight double-time flow into their delivery to keep up with the erratic percussion, which definitely sounds more challenging for Yeezy at first. But he catches on as his verse nears its end. As for Jigga, though, the beat fits the dude like a glove, especially in the latter half of his verse as he spits with a youthful tenacity. All song analysis aside, it will be very, very interesting to hear how this fits in with rumored production from Madlib and Q-Tip.
Kanye West & Jay-Z - H.A.M. (Produced by Lex Luger) by Hypetrak
weak. Production is weirdly structured, hope it fits better in the album, it feels forced on yeezy's verse; both gentlemen fail on the hook. Hundreds of hip hops songs better then this one out which half would get the attention
Interesting beat -change is usually good...and this makes for a good change from the usual grime & hard beats...it's aggressive yes, but with those choirs 'aahs' and 'oohs' you see the vulnerability of two men trying to assert themselves/keep their thrones in a world that may or may not want to accept their perceived deities.
On release day, we may -or we may not- find Watch the Throne to be an existensial angst-ey sort of record; nevertheless, with the bevy of producers touted to have been involved maybe my wish of finally hearing Kanye on a DangerMouse best may come true.
Good introductory song -very good.
on a DangerMouse beat* -pardon me.
Added my thoughts.
Fine song.
greenj18,
They spent months on this beat, were able to select from a slew of world-class producers -they knew what it would sound like, it's not like they just stumbled on it like you seem to implying. Quit with that B.S. This is HAM.
Beautiful & daring -will be an interesting combination.

I agree that the raps arent Jay and Yeezy at their best. But it's still pretty damn good. I think this works as a teaser track. It's epic without being mind-blowing.
I think Jay sounds inspired, flow-wise, on here, even if his lyrics are kind of typical/boring.
weird track but I like how Jay rode the beat.
