In interviews promoting his Matador singles compilation (Matador Single '08), Jay Reatard promised that his new album would be more mellow than the punk blasts everyone had come to expect from him. "Ain't Gonna Save Me," the first promo single from Reatard's first Matador full-length, Watch Me Fall, certainly bared that out to a degree, but the second single, "Wounded," backs up Reatard's promise; it comes down more on the pop side of Reatard pop-punk equation. It still retains his Buzzcocks-loving pedigree, but it's got a sugary sweet hook in a way not many Reatard songs do.
