Jay Reatard may be the most forward-thinking in terms of releasing formats in the indie rock world in a while, release enough singles per year to make up several band's worth of music. At just 28, Reatard is on pace to produce over 100 releases, which is simply absurd, even if most of them are singles. For the next release, Matador is compiling all the singles Reatard has released with the label this year (all 13 track's worth.
The first single, "See/Saw" sees Reatard turning into a sort of Ted Leo figure for Generation Y, with lots of young adult sexual frustration to boot. Southern indie rock is going through something of a surge nowadays, and Reatard stands easily with the likes of The Black Lips as a leaders of the grimier side of indie. But in a weird way, this track almost sounds like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Figure that connection out.
Reatard = god
Love this song.
