Jason Lytle’s Yours Truly, The Commuter is a satisfying continuation of many of the musical ideas he started during his stint fronting Grandaddy. “It’s the Weekend” mirrors the kind of bright, sci-fi pop tunes that made Lytle’s name, and comes accompanied by this endearing lower-than-low budget video clip.
The short song barely clocks in over the two-minute mark and the video is a simple one-take shot of Lytle cleaning his car. Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry need not worry about having their music video skills usurped here, although the song and clip do share a certain synergy.

Good song, but that had to be the most boring video ever. I hope he goes shopping for bookshelves at Ikea for the next video.
