Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk show garnered a mixed reaction in 2009, but most people agreed that it set a high benchmark for musical performances. Fallon ushered in the New Year last night (Jan. 4) with a performance by Japandroids, who are still on the road promoting their Post-Nothing album from ’09.
Thankfully, singer/guitarist Brian King left his portable fan at home, which often makes it look like he’s performing in a wind tunnel straight out of a cheesy ‘80s music video during the band’s live sets. Instead, they offer a solid take on “Wet Hair,” which is the kind of exuberant but generic punk sound that had critics falling over themselves to laud the band in the past year.
