Janelle Monae is currently on tour with Of Montreal, which is just one of the many feathers she can add to her cap this year. On this clip she talks to Carson Daly about her work, claiming she is still growing as an artist, and how she wants her music to bring people together, which has certainly happened in the aftermath ofThe ArchAndroid.
But the best part of this clip is of course the performance of “Tightrope,” which is introduced by a pool-playing Daly, and takes place before an ecstatic crowd at the Viper Room in LA. The setting is up-close and intimate enough to see Monae sweat her way through the song, and she even manages to bust out a few impressive dance moves despite the cramped surroundings.
