The burpy, soulful "The Ring" is the second single from neo-soul Brit Jamie Lidell's forthcoming Compass album, and if its sound strikes you as quirky, wait till you see the above video. Lidell more or less tweaks out for four minutes, digging holes in the sand and loses control over his faculties. Lidell really seems poised for a major breakthrough, because judging from this track (and his new album's title track), Lidell has perfected his busted-ass soul sound in a way he hadn't completely done on his 2008 album, Jim. Not to mention that high profile contributors like Beck, Wilco, Feist and Grizzly Bear all guest on Compass, which is due out on May 18 via Warp. [P4K]
