James Blake is known as a producer wunderkind, with killer releases to his name like The Bells Sketch, CYMK and Klavierwerke EPs. On those records, he chops and splices sounds, deconstructing melodies and reassembling them in discombobulating and engaging ways. Turns out dude has a pretty good ear for straight-forward melodies, too. Check out the video for his cover of Feist's ballad "The Limit To Your Love," which features Blake belting out the lyrics in an intense baritone over simple, thick piano chords, while household objects move about on their own. [Stereogum]
not an easy one to cover i thought but well done.
Still prefer Leslie's version. Not too bad though. Blake knows his way around the ol' chordophone. Also, digging that beat. As I was listening to this, I kept thinking how Jamie Lidell would fare.
