Film and TV composer Marc Shaiman has come up with a novel way of confronting the passing of Proposition 8 in California. Shaiman, who has picked up numerous Academy Award nominations, has rallied a number of prominent actors and comedians to take part in this short web musical (which I can’t resist calling a websical), named Prop 8 – The Musical.
“It’s a brand new bright Obama day” begins the ensemble cast, which includes Jack Black, Margaret Cho, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, and countless others. The song highlights the quick dissipation of joy that followed the news about Proposition 8 on the day after Barack Obama's election. Black is particularly memorable as Jesus, and the clip ends with a link to this website, which highlights the fight against Proposition 8. [via You Ain't No Picasso]
