Even though he's locked up, Ja Rule is still releasing new material from his forthcoming Pre-PIL2 EP. Previously, we heard the surprisingly good "Falling to Pieces," which unfortunately fell apart (sorry) on the hook. Why? Because producer 7 Aurelius sampled the chorus from the Script's "Breakeven" -- you know what I'm talking about: "I'm falling to piiieeeccceeesss" -- for Ja's track.
Yeah, it was lame. And so is this latest track from the incarcerated rapper. "Spun a Web" follows its predecessor's teeth-gritting lead thanks to another pop-sampling beat from Aurelius. He looped the piano line and lifted lyrics from Coldplay's "Trouble" to serve as the backbone to "Spun a Web." This time around, though, the track's worst qualities aren't solely in the hands of its producer. Ja's cookie monster-esque, sing-song delivery returns here and, well, it's not for the better.
