J. Cole: "Purple Rain"
Don't worry J. Cole fans, this isn't his take on the famous Prince track of the same name. Hell, this isn't even actually on Cole's forthcoming Friday Night Lights mixtape, which is dropping this Friday, Nov. 12. Consider this an appetizer, if nothing else, of what to expect on that project. Then consider that "Purple Rain" is apparently a leftover track, which should certainly have Cole's fans -- and doubters, too -- anticipating Friday Night Lights that much more. "Purple Rain" is one of his more melodic, breezy joints as it rides a psych-leaning guitar sample and steady drum beat.
