J. Cole: "Disgusting"
Just the other day I was thinking to myself, "Where the hell has J. Cole been?" And it turns out the answer is that he's been holed up in the studio working on his proper debut album. He tweeted last night that all the singles are done, the title is perfect, the album is ridiculous, and the music is incredible. The Fayetteville, N.C. native also thanked his fans for the patience while also delivering this new track, "Disgusting." It's a self-produced, minimalist affair that puts the focus on his nonstop barrage of bravado. But there's something especially Kanye West-esque in his delivery, such as the drawn out syllables and "So Appalled"/"Can't Tell Me Nothing" hook. That's not entirely a bad thing, because if nothing else if offers some variety in Cole's approach. I just wish it wasn't so obvious.
