With a name like I.U.D. (which we can maybe assume is short for intrauterine device), we're probably in for some challenging, sonically screwy, sexually concerned tunes. Factor in the fact that one half of I.U.D. is Gang Gang Dance's Liz Bougatsos, accompanied by Sadie Laska (who's worked with Growing and Extreme Violence), and this possibility becomes much more likely. "Daddy," the opener for I.U.D.'s full-length The Proper Sex, opens with what sounds like a chopped-up porn sample, and sludges along with some messy drum and bass, along with some strung-out, inscrutable vocals by Bougatsos. The Proper Sex is out March 24 on The Social Registry, to be proceeded by a 7" release of "Daddy" with a remix by Aaron Warren of Black Dice. [Stereogum]
