The collaboration between Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell shows no sign of abating, with the odd pairing set to release a third album, Hawk, later this year. "You Won’t Let Me Down Again" offers a taster of what to expect from the record, which continues their quest to make resolutely downbeat American rock songs that showcases the light/dark divide in their vocal mannerisms.
This video for the clip could scarcely be more appropriate, inhabiting a similar world to the Coen brothers’ masterful No Country For Old Men, its a dusty tale of doomed romance that works as a great counterpart to the song, which is mostly a showcase for Lanegan’s gruff proselytizing with Campbell cooing in the background. It certainly bodes extremely well for Hawk.
