In interviews announcing the imminent arrival of Vapours, his latest opus with Islands, Nick Thorburn promised a more minimal affair than the sprawling Arm's Way. And holy smokes, dude wasn't kidding; "No You Don't," the first track from the album to see release is a minimalist, grooving synth-pop ditty that is sure to make more than a few Thorburn fans pull out their copies of Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?. The song has a lyrical message about not buying dogs from men you don't know, which is sage advice, among other knowledge nuggets.
Vapours is due out on September 22 via Anti-. [Pitchfork]
