Interpol dipped into their back catalog during an appearance on Carson Daly’s show on Wednesday night, but it was back to the business of promoting the Interpol album last night (Feb. 3) on Conan. “Lights” isn’t a great leap forward for the band—it’s essentially a chance for them to play to their strengths and offer up another brooding rock number that slots neatly alongside tracks from their back catalog. In fact, the most remarkable aspect of this performance is Paul Banks’ hair, which is a return to the faux-hawk trend of the early 2000s. Surely it’s too early for a revival of that abomination?
