We haven’t written much about Californian rockers Incubus here on Prefix, but an exception had to be made for last night’s (August 3) performance on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show. The band joined forces with the Roots to perform a surprisingly faithful cover of the Prince classic, “Let’s Go Crazy.”
Singer Brandon Boyd takes a stab at the spoken word intro to the song and guitarist Mike Einziger does a decent job of replicating Prince’s guitar pyrotechnics on the song. Unfortunately, Prince has more charisma in his little finger than Boyd’s entire band put together, making the performance fall flat despite the best efforts of all involved.
