Iggy Pop: "King of the Dogs" (Stream)

Iggy Pop has a new solo album, Preliminaires, out next month, and it offers a tantalizing stylistic shift: Iggy's gone barroom jazz. The first single from the album, "King of the Dogs" is out now, and it finds Iggy in a Tom Waits-esque role, talking about how he's got a smelly rear and is the king of the dogs. He used to wanna be your dog, now he's royalty. Not too shabby.

Preliminaires is due out on June 2. [Stereogum]
