Seattle reissue label Light In The Attic is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with a series of concerts and 7" singles featuring artists covering songs from the label's eclectic catalogue. First up is the Godfather of Punk himself, Mr. Iggy Pop, taking on "If I'm In Luck I Might Get Picked Up." The original was a 1973 funk jam by Betty Davis that's as lascivious as the title suggests.
Davis's version is on the single's B-side, but the A-side features Pop's take. He gets help from the L.A. punk outfit Zig Zags, and together they turn the song into a stomping proto-metal excursion. Hearing Pop croon "I'm wiggling my fanny" is worth the price of admission alone.
The single comes out October 2 on colored vinyl, but you can stream Pop's side below.
