Iggy and the Stooges

Ray of Light (Video)

Always one to buck convention, Madonna chose not to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at which she was being honored. Instead, she asked Iggy Pop, who she called "a fellow ass-kicker from Michigan," and the Stooges to cover some of her songs. Here's the band, with Mike Watt on bass (which begs the question: when are the Minutemen eligible for Rock Hall induction?) ripping through "Ray of Light." Who cares if it was a black tie event at the Waldorf-Astoria, Iggy's still not going to a put a shirt on! Keep watching after the song ends and the band heads backstage. Iggy gets a ton of odd looks from the hotel workers, and one of the Stooges gets Madge to sign his guitar.

Wow, awkward. I love how Justin Timberlake and Madonna are trying to look interested, while Iggy's yelling "feel something!" to all the blank tuxes. Good times.
