“Iced Honey” And “White Light/White Heat” (Live On Jools Holland) (Video)

If there’s one thing that unites Lou Reed and Metallica, besides the Lulu album, it’s their collective disdain for purists. Neither Reed nor the members of Metallica seem to care much for fans who are desperately holding onto memories of what those artists once represented—and they took that to a real extreme on Jools Holland’s show in the U.K. last night by performing a garage-y version of “White Light/White Heat.” The two forces also combined to play “Iced Honey” from Lulu, but it’s the evisceration of “White Light” that’s going to pick up the most attention, no doubt causing those purists to scrath their heads and wonder where this project could possibly go next.
